The Rabbi Abraham D. Hecht Scholarship Fund NEW

  • The Rabbi Abraham D. Hecht Scholarship Fund will provide much needed funds to ensure that every Jewish child can receive the Torah-true education that he deserves.

Rabbi Abraham D. Hecht had a very special connection to Jewish education, and himself visited Cheder menachem and inspired our students on a number of occasions.

As a young yeshiva student, Rabbi Hecht travelled to Poland, in September 1939, to study in the Yeshivah of Otvosk under the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe. A few days later, as the tanks started rolling across Poland, he managed to leave.

When the Previous Rebbe arrived in America and established his Yeshiva, Rabbi Hecht was one of the first students.

He was president of the Igud HaRabbonim (Rabbinical Alliance of America) for many years, and served for over 50 years as the Rabbi in Congregation Shaarei Tziyon of the Sefardi-Syrian community in Brooklyn.
